The two manual Nicholson and Newbegin organ was removed from the Baptist Church at Esh Winning in County Durham for David Bradesi, Facteur d’Orgue of Rouziers de Touraine. This brief overview details our work in removing and transporting the organ to France. See the organ on NPOR.
The organ is 12 speaking stops, with a simple and attractive front, and a very pleasant tone. Placement in its new venue, which is very resonant will considerably enhance the tonal beauty of the organ.
The work to dismantle and pack the organ took three days, during which the team had a pleasant stay at Premier Inn in North Durham.
Once the organ was out we drove it to Tours to deliver to our colleague David. The journey took four days:
Day 1: Durham to Rouen
Day 2: Rouen to Tours with trip to Vouvray
Day 3: Tours to Rouen via Harcourt
Day 4: Rouen to Poole
A very successful trip was had by Alan and Jonathan, with a visit to Rouen Cathedral and the Mecca for Cavaille-
